The key beneficiaries of NSA are persons with stuttering and their parents. NSA has been carrying out mainly two types programs for persons with stuttering through central office and district branches. First is related to bringing possible improvement in the speech of persons with stuttering. For this, NSA provides counseling and referral service to get access to the speech therapy to the needy persons and conduct basic level self group speech therapy which is done by the persons with stuttering themselves. Secondly NSA has been organizing persons with stuttering in the network of NSA, building their capacity, raising awareness about stuttering problems and issues of persons with stuttering and advocating to include the issues of persons with stuttering in the policy and program of government.
The organization has been conducting the basic level group speech therapy since 2005 in its central office. This was started by mobilizing some persons with stuttering who had been trained in such types of therapy.
A part from this, NSA has been engaging to organize persons with stuttering in the network of NSA such as district branches and self-help group, build their capacities, provide counseling and referral services, raise awareness in the community and to advocate on behalf of persons with stuttering to establish their issues in the policies and programs of government. Perceiving the lack of statistics of persons with stuttering in view, NSA has started collecting and updating the data of persons with stuttering since 2012 and 6 districts have been targeted for the beginning.
